Wanna see some really cool parasites? Check out this video posted by Asapscience on YouTube. I have also watched a couple other videos posted by them and they seem pretty interesting and cool.

Sulfuric Acid in the atmosphere... Why that's a great idea!

Okay, what is up with David Keith and his book, A Case for Climate Engineering?

The decades old conundrum is, how can we mitigate global warming and the amount of CO2 being pumped into our atmosphere? Mr. Keith brings to the forefront, the idea that releasing sulfuric acid into the atmosphere (an already occuring process) will cut down on the damage caused by carbon emissions.

Hmm... this is a good point that he has brought up, and it makes sense as a quick fix. But this should not be our focus. Our focus should be on how to cut emissions for good, and developing alternative sources of energy.

What do you think? He gave an interesting TED talk explaining how it works. You can check it out here.

Mmm... Vanillin from Cow Dung, YUM!

Sooo, I was looking up info. on vanillin to show my brother when I found this article about the Japanese researcher, Maya Yamamoto. Ms. Yamamoto realized that vanillin, the compound found in vanilla, can be extracted from cow's dung. Apparently, vanillin can be isolated from the feces of most herbivores.

A Bloody Mess

A biology teacher in North Carolina was fired after deciding to let her students use their own blood in a science experiment. The teacher allowed students to prick their fingers with a lancet, and then share that lancet with another student after "sterilizing" it with some rubbing alcohol. Hmm... does not sound like such a good idea. What do you think?

T-Shirt Derby

On Woot.com there is a T-shirt derby going on where people enter hundreds of T-shirts but only three are chosen. Most of them have to do with some form of science- mostly chemistry or physics.

Check out which ones are in the lead; they're pretty funny and you may want to get one of your own. Also, if you don't get the joke, you can always Google the science behind it so you can be on the "inside".

Post your comments below on which one you think should win.

Underwater Fireworks

Hello Everyone-

Here is a wicked experiment called, Underwater Fireworks. The lesson here is, ' Do not mess with calcium carbide. Acetylene is still combustible, even under water.'
